Soccer Game Preview: San Dieguito Academy vs. Torrey Pines

The San Dieguito Academy Mustangs will head out to square off against the Torrey Pines Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

On Wednesday, San Dieguito Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Rancho Buena Vista and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 507th, while the Longhorns are ranked 65th).

Meanwhile, Torrey Pines managed to keep up with Oceanside until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Torrey Pines lost 3-0 to Oceanside.

Torrey Pines has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11-1 record this season. As for San Dieguito Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12-5.

San Dieguito Academy skirted past Torrey Pines 3-2 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Dieguito Academy since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
