Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Academy vs. Palmyra-Eagle Panthers

Lincoln Academy will venture away from home to square off against the Palmyra-Eagle Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Academy has given up an average of 17.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hiawatha hit Lincoln Academy with a ten-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. Lincoln Academy lost 21-3 to Hiawatha.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Palmyra-Eagle made sure to put some runs up on the board against Deerfield on Thursday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Demons with a sharp 10-2 win. Considering the Panthers have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryan Brodzik made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Palmyra-Eagle got a massive performance out of Alex Harbison, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Harbison has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Dillen Patrick, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Palmyra-Eagle has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
