It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but First Baptist Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish 8-7. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 11-4 victory the Fighting Irish walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.
Ava Mitchell made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk).
