Baseball Recap: Valley Central Wins Going Away Against Monticello

Valley Central got themselves on the board against Monticello on Wednesday, but Monticello never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Caleb Swart was a major factor no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Swart was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Darren Russo and Ryan Tejeda did most of the damage at the plate: Russo went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, while Tejeda scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Valley Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monticello struck out 12 times.

The victory got Valley Central back to even at 1-1. As for Monticello, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
