Softball Recap: Roane County Triumphs

Roane County put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Midway Green Wave a 12-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Green Wave: they've now won three in a row.

Sailor Presley made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Roane County got a big performance out of Ava Hamilton, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance gave Hamilton a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Newman, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Roane County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Midway only posted a batting average of .000.

Roane County's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Midway, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Roane County will challenge Polk County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Polk County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Midway, they will take on Harriman at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday.
