Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Has No Trouble Against Greeley Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Roosevelt). They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Greeley Central Wildcats on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Israel Castillo made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Castillo was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Devin Mitchell was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in triples (two). Another player making a difference was Mason Sauer, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.

Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Roosevelt's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Greeley Central, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will challenge Mountain View at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Greeley Central, they will square off against Platte Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
