Basketball Recap: Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats vs. Nokomis Redskins
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Nokomis on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nokomis Redskins. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Redskins recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Haley Doty went 6-for-12 to rack up 18 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Doty has scored all season. Macee Rodman was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nokomis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Grace Dewerff, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Dewerff a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Alivia Sabol, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's loss dropped their record down to 10-18. As for Nokomis, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season.
