Basketball Game Preview: Freeman Mavericks vs. Godwin Eagles

Freeman and Godwin are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Freeman Mavericks will head out on the road to face off against the Godwin Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Freeman is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Freeman ended up a good deal behind Hermitage and lost 55-39. The match marked the Mavericks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Godwin posted their biggest win since February 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Matoaca with a sharp 71-48 victory. 71 seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Godwin has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Freeman, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Freeman ended up a good deal behind Godwin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, losing 61-45. Can Freeman avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
