Fruitport has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.94 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They came out on top against the Hopkins Vikings by a score of 14-10. The victory was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won six games in a row.

Brooklyn Russell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and nine unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Kya Tawney was a standout: she fired off three home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Brylee Dewitt was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fruitport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive matches.

Fruitport pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Hopkins, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-12-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Vikings beat Fruitport by a score of 16-14 later that day.
