Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Fredericktown's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Fredericktown had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Mt. Gilead on Thursday. The Freddies blew past the Indians 3-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 on September 3rd.

While Fredericktown won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-10, 25-23.

Mya Bryant paced Fredericktown's offense, picking up 14 kills. Bryant got some help from Kallan Tilton and her 17 assists. Brooklyn Briegel controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Despite the loss, Mt. Gilead saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kylee Whipple had ten digs.

Fredericktown is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Mt. Gilead, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fredericktown will challenge Lexington at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. Gilead, they will venture away from home to square off against East Knox at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
