Recap: KIPP Navigate College Prep Tigers vs. Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions
This season hasn't been kind to the KIPP Navigate College Prep Tigers, who are still winless after their sixth match. They took a 42-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Luis Valdez Leadership Academy on Tuesday.
Despite the defeat, KIPP Navigate College Prep saw an underclassman step up: Isaiah Hernandez scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hernandez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Tran, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
KIPP Navigate College Prep bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-7.
KIPP Navigate College Prep will head out on the road to square off against University Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. University Prep Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit at 7:30 p.m.
