Basketball Recap: Faith Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Faith Christian Academy played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the GVCS Broadfording Lions 72-45. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost six in a row.

Faith Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Mason Altier, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. Jackson Thompson was another key player, putting up eight points and eight boards.

GVCS Broadfording found their leader in sophomore Fernando Garcia, who went 14 of 21 on his way to 34 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The game was Garcia's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Monroe, who earned seven points and ten boards.

Faith Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for GVCS Broadfording, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Faith Christian Academy will head out to face off against Grace Academy at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for GVCS Broadfording, they will venture away from home to challenge Southern at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southern knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully GVCS Broadfording likes a good challenge.
