Basketball Recap: Newhalen Comes Up Short

Newhalen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 76-40 defeat at the hands of the Chief Ivan Blunka Eagles. The Malamutes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Newhalen's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Chief Ivan Blunka, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Newhalen will head out on the road to face off against Susitna Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Susitna Valley will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Newhalen surely won't give up without a fight. Chief Ivan Blunka does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
