Basketball Recap: Nick English's Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Madrid County Central over Central

New Madrid County Central lost against Central back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The New Madrid County Central Eagles lost 59-35 to the Central Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while the Tigers are ranked 44th).

New Madrid County Central's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick English, who posted four points. Thanks to that strong game, English now owns an excellent 46.2% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Ra'Mond Brooks, who scored four points and five boards.

This is the second loss in a row for New Madrid County Central and nudges their season record down to 5-13. As for Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Coming up, New Madrid County Central will challenge Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Jackson's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches. As for Central, they will square off against Sikeston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sikeston has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
