Softball Recap: Nuview Bridge Triumphs

Nuview Bridge won the last time they faced California Military Institute and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Knights came out on top against the Rough Riders by a score of 15-10. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Mia Aguiluz made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Nuview Bridge let Sofia Barrera and Lyla Dixon run wild. Barrera went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Dixon went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Barrera a new career-high. Vanessa Taylor also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Nuview Bridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .487. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in ten consecutive matches.

Nuview Bridge's record now sits at 10-6-1. As for California Military Institute, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Looking ahead, Nuview Bridge will be playing at home against San Jacinto Valley Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for California Military Institute, they will head out on the road to face off against Temecula Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.37 runs per game on average), something the Rough Riders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
