Baseball Recap: Princeton Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Francis, Princeton was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Zimmerman Thunder. The win continues a trend for the Royal Tigers in their matchups with the Thunder: they've now won five in a row.

Princeton let Josh Christopher and Steven Geiseler run wild. Christopher got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs, while Geiseler went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave Geiseler a new career-high. Lukas Bratulich was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Princeton's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Zimmerman, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Princeton will welcome Annandale at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Zimmerman, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Big Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Thunder's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
