Baseball Game Preview: Ashland Oredockers vs. Northwestern Tigers

The Ashland Oredockers will head out on the road to challenge the Northwestern Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ashland had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Hayward on Monday. The Oredockers were the clear victors by a 19-6 margin over the Hurricanes. The victory was nothing new for the Oredockers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Meanwhile, Northwestern had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Comets as they made off with an 11-5 win.

Northwestern pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Ashland, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Ashland suffered a grim 18-8 defeat to Northwestern in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Oredockers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
