Volleyball Recap: Mercy Comes Up Short

Mercy lost against Notre Dame back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bears lost 3-0 to the Tigers. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Notre Dame scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-23, 25-17.

Notre Dame was led to victory by Piper Ventura and Camilla Qaqundah. Ventura had 15 digs and six assists, while Qaqundah had six digs and three assists. Ventura is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Mercy's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Notre Dame, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.

Mercy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Harbor on the 17th. As for Notre Dame, they will be playing at home against Menlo School at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
