Basketball Game Preview: Monticello Billies vs. Watson Chapel Wildcats

Monticello is 0-5 against Watson Chapel since January of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Monticello Billies will host the Watson Chapel Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Monticello is coming into the match on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight victories. They came out on top against Hamburg by a score of 58-51 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Watson Chapel strolled past Warren with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 44-27. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Lumberjacks are ranked 186th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Watson Chapel is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.1 points per game. As for Monticello, their win bumped their record up to 4-10.

Monticello suffered a grim 54-34 defeat to Watson Chapel in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Monticello avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
