Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Morgan's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Morgan was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against South Summit on Tuesday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 14-5 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by eight runs or more this season.

Morgan got a massive performance out of Tyson Talbot, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave Talbot a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kanyon Leonelli, who scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Morgan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Summit only posted a batting average of .192.

Morgan is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for South Summit, they dropped their record down to 5-11 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, South Summit will head out on the road to square off against North Sanpete at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Morgan will be paying especially close attention to the Wildcats' match: after the Wildcats faces off against the Hawks, they'll take on Morgan again at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
