Baseball Recap: New Diana Gets the Win

New Diana proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by nine) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Hughes Springs Mustangs 3-1. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Remi Rountree spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Justice Hankins was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Green, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

New Diana's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Hughes Springs, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-4 record.

New Diana will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
