Softball Recap: Valley's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Valley waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lincoln Railsplitters a 13-0 shutout. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

Emily King looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mack Mohler, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Cooley, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Valley's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Valley will welcome Jefferson at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lincoln, they will face off against Indianola at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
