Basketball Recap: Effingham Takes a Loss

Effingham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 52-42 to the Charleston Trojans. The Hearts were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 63-58.

Charleston's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luke Bonnstetter, who posted 16 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tyler Oakley, who went 5 for 12 en route to 14 points.

Effingham's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Charleston, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-13 record.

Effingham will take on Glenwood at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Glenwood will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Effingham surely won't give up without a fight. Charleston has already played their next contest (against Rantoul), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
