Softball Recap: St. Pius X Comes Up Short

St. Pius X lost against Artesia back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The St. Pius X Sartans fell just short of the Artesia Bulldogs by a score of 13-12.

Aubri Hooee stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jordan Chavez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, St. Pius X always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

St. Pius X's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Artesia, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

St. Pius X didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-0 victory against Del Norte on the 13th. As for Artesia, they will be playing at home against Cleveland at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Artesia has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
