The Troy Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Midd-West Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Troy's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Midd-West's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Friday, Troy needed a bit of extra time to put away Wellsboro. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Hornets. The high-scoring effort was just what the Trojans needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Erinn Knapp was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over nine innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Knapp was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Lauren Reed was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Haidyn Watson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Midd-West fell victim to Central Columbia and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bluejays. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Mustangs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Emma Wagner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
Midd-West's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Troy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Everything went Troy's way against Midd-West in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Troy made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
