Softball Recap: Gretna Hawks vs. Chatham Cavaliers

Gretna scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past the Chatham Cavaliers 13-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for Gretna.

Alyssa Keesee was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Keesee was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Brooklyn Layne was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Hailey Walker was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Gretna's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7. As for Chatham, they now have a losing record at 5-6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gretna will take on Dan River at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Gretna is facing Dan River at the right time seeing as Dan River is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Chatham, they will head out on the road to challenge Altavista at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
