Baseball Recap: Tunkhannock's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Tunkhannock came into Monday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Hanover Area Hawkeyes by a score of 8-3 on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Hawkeyes back in April, they had to take a 11-5 defeat.

Tunkhannock got a great performance from Paul Poepperling as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Poepperling has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hunter Gilroy was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Dominick, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Tunkhannock was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hanover Area only posted a batting average of .207.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-17. As for Hanover Area, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-17.

Coming up, Tunkhannock will face off against Lakeland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Chiefs at the right time seeing as the Chiefs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Hanover Area, they will challenge Mountain View at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Hawkeyes surely won't give up without a fight.
