Sage Hill's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Irvine by a score of 2-0. Given the Lightning's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Vaqueros are ranked 732nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Keila Fukuda and Ceci Ball scored both of Sage Hill's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.

Meanwhile, Portola entered their tilt with St. Margaret's on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Tartans. The Bulldogs' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six contests.

Portola's victory bumped their record up to 7-1-2. As for Sage Hill, they are also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
