Hughson came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Escalon Cougars by a score of 6-1. This was payback for the Huskies, who suffered a 4-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Max Mankins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hughson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Lupercio, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Lupercio a new career-high. Another was Carlos Guizar, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Hughson's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Escalon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.

Hughson will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
