Basketball Game Preview: Bethune-Bowman Mohawks vs. Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins

Bethune-Bowman hasn't had much luck against Orangeburg-Wilkinson recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bethune-Bowman Mohawks will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins at 7:30 p.m. Bethune-Bowman has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Bethune-Bowman saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 58-50 win over White Knoll.

Meanwhile, Orangeburg-Wilkinson waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 72-47 victory. The Bruins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson's win came from a few key players Bethune-Bowman will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Keith Smith, who went 8 of 11 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Jamison, who posted nine points and five assists.

Bethune-Bowman's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.

Things could have been worse for Bethune-Bowman, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 48-34 loss to Orangeburg-Wilkinson in their previous matchup on December 6th. Can Bethune-Bowman avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
