Basketball Game Preview: Mission Viejo Diablos vs. Aliso Niguel Wolverines

The Mission Viejo Diablos will face off against the Aliso Niguel Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Viejo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season.

Mission Viejo will bounce into Friday's match after beating Capistrano Valley, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Mission Viejo came out on top against Capistrano Valley by a score of 41-33 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Diablos.

Damian Navarro continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 23 points and six steals. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. JD Hill was another key player, posting eight points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.

Mission Viejo was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, Aliso Niguel beat El Toro 73-65 on Wednesday.

Aliso Niguel is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Mission Viejo, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.

Mission Viejo was dealt a bruising 80-43 loss at the hands of Aliso Niguel in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Mission Viejo, Charles Gass (who went 8 of 12 on his way to 21 points and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
