Baseball Game Preview: Tulpehocken Trojans vs. Pine Grove Cardinals

Tulpehocken hasn't had much luck against Pine Grove recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Tulpehocken will head out to square off against Pine Grove at 6:00 p.m. Tulpehocken's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Pine Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Tulpehocken came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Berks Catholic, falling 9-1. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Jared Baer was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. Baer was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Baer wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landon Hoffert, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Pine Grove was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell 4-0 to Tamaqua. The match marked the first time this year in which the Cardinals were not able to get on the board.

Pine Grove moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Tulpehocken, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-2.
