Basketball Recap: Round Valley Comes Up Short

Round Valley was the 65-59 winner over Northland Prep Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Round Valley Elks took a hard 60-41 fall against the Northland Prep Academy Spartans on Saturday.

When it comes to explaining why Round Valley lost, don't look at Wyatt Reed. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 12 on his way to 18 points and five boards. The contest was Reed's third in a row with at least ten points. Geron Baylish also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Northland Prep Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ian Karren led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave Karren a new career-high. Delani Hanson was another key player, putting up eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Round Valley dropped their record down to 5-19 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Northland Prep Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-8.

Round Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-50 victory against Blue Ridge on the 27th. As for Northland Prep Academy, they will challenge Hopi at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northland Prep Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season.
