Basketball Recap: Woodland's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Woodland extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Omari Scott. The Woodland Wolfpack snuck past the Spalding Jaguars with a 73-69 victory on Friday thanks in part to Scott, who went 11 for 14 on his way to 29 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Sekou Reid, who posted seven points and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keelan Day, who put up 11 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Day is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was AydAn Turner, who posted nine points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Woodland has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Spalding, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Woodland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 52-51 win against Northside on the 28th. As for Spalding, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-51 victory against Mt. Zion on the 28th.
