Basketball Recap: Greater Destiny Prep Academy Takes a Loss

Greater Destiny Prep Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 72-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northeastern Eagles. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game back in November (57), the Warriors still had to take the loss.

Northeastern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eleck Sutton, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Sutton a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Z'Kobe Whidbee, who posted 21 points along with five assists and three steals.

Greater Destiny Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Northeastern, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greater Destiny Prep Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Shining Star Sports Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 17, 2025. As for Northeastern, they will host Goldsboro at 1:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
