Softball Game Preview: Lutheran Crusaders vs. Winnebago Indians

Lutheran hasn't had much luck against Winnebago recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Crusaders will venture away from home to take on the Indians at 4:30 p.m.

Lutheran is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 15th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to Byron.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Winnebago ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Oregon, sneaking past 10-9. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Indians' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Vanessa Warkentien was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

Winnebago lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Winnebago, their record now sits at 9-11.

Lutheran might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Winnebago in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
