Softball Recap: Grossmont Wins Going Away Against El Cajon Valley

Grossmont never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the El Cajon Valley Braves. The Foothillers haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Saraya Roope made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Skyler Glover was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples and four RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Ashley Beard was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Grossmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .844. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Grossmont pushed their record up to 9-15-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for El Cajon Valley, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Coming up, Grossmont will take on Monte Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for El Cajon Valley, they will face off against Orange Glen at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
