Softball Recap: Morningside Academy Finds Playoff Glory Versus City of Life Christian Academy

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Morningside Academy had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the City of Life Christian Academy Warriors as they made off with a 10-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Leigha Race made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison LeVasseur, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Reghan Wilbur was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Morningside Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Morningside Academy's record is now 15-5. As for City of Life Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Morningside Academy has already played their next contest, a 15-3 defeat against Merritt Island Christian on the 1st. City of Life Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
