            Football Recap: Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets vs. Mercedes Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            Edcouch-Elsa had lost three straight on the road, but  on Friday they dropped down to 2-4 to make it four. They were  outmatched by the Mercedes Tigers and fell  42-8. The  game marked the Yellowjackets' lowest-scoring  contest so far this season.
 Even if they lost, Edcouch-Elsa's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess:  Servando Garcia and  Derek Cardenas, who each picked up 1.5  sacks apiece. Another thorn in Mercedes' side was  Garcia, who picked up  1.5  sacks and made 16 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
As for Mercedes, the  win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Considering they have won three matchups by more than 20  points this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Leading Mercedes to victory were  Diego Bravo and  Robert Sanchez.  Bravo rushed for 194 yards and a pair of  TDs on only 13 carries, while  Sanchez gained 184 total yards and four touchdowns. Those  194  rushing yards gave  Bravo a new career-high.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Edcouch-Elsa will  face off against  rival Porter  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile, Mercedes is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Lopez  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
