Basketball Recap: Myrtle Beach Falls Despite Big Games from John Simmons and Jamarcus Carroll

Myrtle Beach saw some tournament action on Saturday. They lost to the Windermere Prep Lakers on the road by a 50-35 margin. The Seahawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Myrtle Beach had strong showings from Jamarcus Carroll, who posted 14 points and five rebounds, and John Simmons, who earned seven points and nine rebounds. Carroll is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Even though they lost, Myrtle Beach smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Windermere Prep only pulled down four offensive boards.

Leading Windermere Prep to victory were Brandon Bass Jr. and Samuel Shoptaw. Bass Jr. almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards, while Shoptaw had eight points along with six boards and five assists. The match was Bass Jr.'s tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristen Tucker, who put up six points.

Myrtle Beach's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Windermere Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.

Myrtle Beach didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-47 win against St. James on the 7th. As for Windermere Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-36 defeat against Archbishop Moeller on the 30th.
