Baseball Recap: Monte Vista Takes a Loss

Monte Vista suffered their biggest loss since April 2nd on Wednesday. They lost 9-1 to the San Ramon Valley Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in April.

Monte Vista got a good showing from Chase Simpelo, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Simpelo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Monte Vista saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron LaRosa, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Monte Vista has also been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. As for San Ramon Valley, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10.

While Monte Vista had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
