Basketball Recap: Penasco Find Success

Penasco's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 54-41 victory over the Questa Wildcats. The Panthers pushed the score to 45-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats cut but never quite recovered from.

Despite the defeat, Questa saw an underclassman step up: freshman Larry Roybal dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Roybal is now averaging an impressive 8 rebounds per game. Juan Cisneros was another key player, putting up four points and ten boards.

Penasco's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-10. As for Questa, they dropped their record down to 4-16 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Penasco is taking a road trip to face off against Mora at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Questa, they will host Mesa Vista at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
