Volleyball Recap: Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chatham Cavaliers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Thursday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-10.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chatham to victory, but perhaps none more so than Avery Norton, who had seven digs and six assists.

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Chatham, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy will face off against rival Appomattox County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Chatham is set to square off against their familiar foe William Campbell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
