Volleyball Game Preview: Independence Blue Devils vs. Dalton Bulldogs + How To Watch

The Independence Blue Devils will challenge the Dalton Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Independence will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Independence is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against McDonald as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

Independence was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-19.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Independence to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julia Jurkiewicz, who had five digs and two aces. Jurkiewicz is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sofia Pichert, who had ten digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Independence was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in seven consecutive contests.

Waynedale typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Dalton proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Golden Bears. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Golden Bears: they've now won five in a row.

Dalton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-21.

Independence's record now sits at 19-6. As for Dalton, their record is now 23-3.

Independence was able to grind out a solid win over Dalton in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
