Softball Recap: Paul VI Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Paul VI barely beat Bishop Ireton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 11-5 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Maria Dozier was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. Natalie Monroe was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-5.

Paul VI was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory (which was Paul VI's third in a row) raised their record to 5-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Ireton, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paul VI will take on Bishop McNamara at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Bishop Ireton, they will face off against Elizabeth Seton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
