Basketball Recap: Hope Academy Takes a Loss

On Wednesday, the Hope Academy Trojan Tigers came up short against the Eustis Panthers and fell 59-48. While losing is never fun, the Trojan Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 430th, while the Panthers are ranked 177th).

Despite the defeat, Hope Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Domiya Foreman went 7 of 15 en route to 16 points in addition to eight assists and six steals. Foreman is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Crystlin Smith was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Hope Academy's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Eustis, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hope Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against South Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eustis, they and Deltona will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played.
