Baseball Recap: Dirigo's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Dirigo waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Spruce Mountain Phoenix by a score of 9-6. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 12-8 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Hudson Lufkin was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Lufkin was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

Lufkin wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Crosby, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Caiden Skidgell was another, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run.

Dirigo's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Spruce Mountain, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dirigo will head out to take on Gray-New Gloucester at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Spruce Mountain, they will square off against Madison at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
