Softball Recap: Sarcoxie Comes Up Short

Sarcoxie extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-12 in the process. They lost 19-8 to the Marionville Comets. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Marionville, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

For Marionville's part, Annaliyah Ghan was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. That's the most runs Ghan has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Maggie Murphy, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sarcoxie will welcome New Heights Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marionville, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Miller at 5:00 p.m.
