Softball Game Preview: Southern Wells Raiders vs. Heritage Patriots

Southern Wells hasn't had much luck against Heritage recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Raiders will look to defend their home field against the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Southern Wells has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southern Wells is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Bluffton, falling 12-2.

Remi Holmes was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Heritage can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They skirted past South Adams 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since May 6, 2024.

Danica Fuller made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abriyah James, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Heritage's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Southern Wells, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.
