Baseball Recap: Evergreen Park Wins Going Away Against Kennedy

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Evergreen Park and Kennedy, and Evergreen Park kept the tradition alive. Evergreen Park blew past Kennedy 19-3 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won six in a row.

Rowan Smyth made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Yarim Garcia was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Flores, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Evergreen Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kennedy only posted an OBP of .368.

Evergreen Park's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Kennedy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evergreen Park will face off against Lisle at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Kennedy, they will square off against Amundsen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
